The Clinical Assistant course is designed to develop essential, hands-on clinical skills such as Phlebotomy, EKG / ECG, Injections, Vital Signs, Urinalysis and Physical Exam Assisting.All training is done in a realistic clinical environment outfitted with industry standard equipment and clinical supplies. Each student will perform all skills live to standard, under the direct supervision of a DPL approved instructor.

Upon completion, students are expected to demonstrate their skills during the final competency stage and pass a comprehensive written test.

The Clinical Assistant course is a clinical skill building class and does not come with an internship.

Phlebotomy Technician Certification

Phlebotomy Technicians are critical team members at hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and blood donor centers. As advancements in medical technology rise, it’s an exciting time to begin a career in this thriving field.

Students receive hands-on training in blood drawing and specimen handling procedures as well as National Certification Exam preparation training.

BCI has partnered with NHA (National Healthcareer Association) to deliver training to students seeking National Certification in Phlebotomy. Students will perform the required number of blood-draws and receive all required National Certification Exam preparation.

No Clinical Internship is required or provided for this class.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: Employment of Phlebotomy technicians is projected to grow 25 percent from 2016 to 2026. Program Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must sign a consent form to participate in clinical exercises.
